Short description

Other names: Alumium Oxide, Aluminum Oxide or Aluminum Oxide, Aluminum Oxide, Aluminum Oxide; Aluminas; Aluminum oxide basic; Alumina trihydrate; Alumina acidic; Alumina; Corundum; Saphire; Ruby; Alumina basic; Alumina hydrate; Alumina neutral; Alumina trihydrate; Aluminum oxide; Tabular alumina; Aluminumoxid (German); óxido de aluminio (Spanish); Oxyde d'aluminium (French); dyed morin; Alundum; Boileezers ... Chemical formula: Al2O3 Content: 98.5% Packing specification: 25kg / bag Particle size: 40-45 microng Manufactured in: Sumitomo-Japan Apperance: Aluminum oxide in white fine powder Applications: Known as alundum (in fused form) or aloxite in the mining, ceramic, and materials science communities, aluminium oxide finds wide use. Fillers: Being fairly chemically inert and white, aluminium oxide is a favored filler for plastics. Aluminium oxide is a common ingredient in sunscreen and is sometimes also present in cosmetics such as blush, lipstick, and nail polish. Glass: Many formulations of glass have aluminium oxide as an ingredient. Catalysis[: Aluminium oxide catalyses a variety of reactions that are useful industrially. In its largest scale application, aluminium oxide is the catalyst in the Claus process for converting hydrogen sulfide waste gases into elemental sulfur in refineries. It is also useful for dehydration of alcohols to alkenes. Water purification: Aluminium oxide is widely used to remove water from gas streams.
